In what promises to be an unmissable event, Millers Music and Steve Lockwood are holding the biggest music lesson in Cambridge that will see hundreds learn to play a new musical instrument. On 17th March you are invited to Cambridge Corn Exchange, pick up a harmonica and start playing. The ‘harmonica genius’ Steve Lockwood will guide you through the basics and have everyone playing along. You can even keep the harmonica as long as you promise to keep playing!
The Harmonica Playathon is part of National Learn To Play Day; an initiative that provides free music lessons across the country. Whether you have never played, used to play or always play it is a chance to pick up a new instrument and just have a go. Simon Pollard, Owner of Millers Music, comments ‘this is an exciting opportunity to share the benefits of music and impact it can have. Music education struggles due to the lack of budget and resource, at Millers we aim to make music accessible to all and with a thriving musical community, Cambridge is the perfect place to hold the biggest music lesson this Learn To Play Day!’
Steve Lockwood has written harmonica parts for Tom Jones, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic and played with legendary harmonicist Larry Adler, he has taught harmonica workshops not only in Cambridge but around the world for years. He has teamed up with Millers Music to inspire you to learn a new musical instrument and believes ‘the humble harmonica can be learned at any age and is the perfect introduction or reintroduction to music due to its versatility. I am thrilled to be a part of Learn To Play 2018 and can’t wait to play!’
The Harmonica Playathon takes place on Saturday 17th March 11am at Cambridge Corn Exchange. Everyone who attends will receive a free harmonica on the door, all you have to do is grab your friends and play along! Visit millersmusic.co.uk/learn-to-play to register and be in with a chance to win a private lesson with Steve.
